Breaking: Tenant sues landlady for declining an offer to buy her house

A high court in Lagos has dismissed a case filed by one Ademola Onitiju, a tenant, who sued his landlady for not selling her house to him. In 2021, Onitiju, a retired air commodore and legal practitioner, took Theodosia Ogunnaike, the landlady of a four-bedroom duplex at Dolphin Estate in Ikoyi, to court for selling the property to another person after his initial negotiation with her. The 59-year-old tenant, who started residing in the house in December 2015, said the property was first offered to him as first option to purchase but he did not pay for it immediately. Onitiju said he was initially asked to pay N170 million for the property, but he offered to pay N90 million instead, which was rejected by the landlady. The retired airforce officer said during the renegotiation process, he sold two family properties to enable him to match the purchase price of N135 million which was later requested for. He said he asked for a bank account detail to pay the purchase price, but he was not

Petrol Tanker falls and Cause Traffic in Anambra

33,000-litre tanker carrying petroleum motor spirit has fallen down along the Onitsha-Enugu Expressway between Toll Gate and Ogbunike slaughter. The incident happened at about 2:05 pm on Tuesday as the tanker driver was diverting to Ndumore Oil & Gas Filling Station along the expressway. It was gathered that the cause of the incident was a result of the loss of control of the tanker by the driver. The incident caused the Awka-bound lane to be condoned off while vehicles were diverted to the Onitsha-bound lane, thereby causing heavy traffic on the axis.

CBN Limit cash Withdrawal to 100k weekly 20k daily

The Central Bank Of Nigeria has imposed fresh cash withdrawal limits on individuals and organisations, which takes effect from January 9, 2023. According to a new memo to banks issued on Tuesday and signed by the Director of Banking Supervision, Haruna .B. Mustafa, individuals will only be able to withdraw N100,000 per week ( from over the counter, Point of Sale Machines or the Automated Teller Machines), while organisations can access N500,000 per week. Banks have also been directed to load only N200 and lower denominations into their ATM.

Biafra: Ohanaeze slams Ekpa, Igbo youths over divisive statements

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has cautioned Simon Ekpa, the self-acclaimed disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, over his recent directive that residents of the South-East should observe a 5-day sit-at-home from December 9. In the same vein, the group chided the President of Ohanaeze Youth Council over his recent call that Igbo youths should carry arms in self-defence.Ohanaeze while cautioning the duo and other elements of such said the statements are “inflammatory, subversive and incendiary broadcasts” from the people it labelled “latter-day Biafran warriors.”

The boxer received a punch in his chin and the referee had to stop the fight when he failed to recover. He was immediately taken out of the ring for medical treatment before being rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Ignore five days sit at home Ipob tells south east residents

The Indigenous People of Biafra has told the residents of South-East that it did not order any five-day sit-at-home order in the region. The group therefore asked the people to ignore the order, describing it as a “senseless” order from those against the Biafra agenda. This is following a video currently circulating online ordering the people of the South-East to observe a sit-at-home on  December 9 -14, 2022. But in a statement by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group said it never issued any sit-at-home order on the days mentioned above.

Soludo Terminate road contract in Anambra Over alleged Incompetence

 Work incompetence over road contract in Anambra Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has terminated a road contract in Aguata Local Government Area, over alleged incompetence of the contractor. Soludo, who paid an unscheduled visit to the road construction site on Sunday, described the company as incompetent and lacking the capacity to deliver on the job. Although, the name of the company handling the road project was not mentioned, but a video of the governor’s visit to the site has been circulating on the internet. It was gathered that the road contract is a federal highway that leads from the governor’s community to Ekwulobia Town, both in Aguata Local Government Area.

Power shutdown in Ukraine after Russia attacks

  Ukraine is switching to emergency shutdowns to stabilise its power grid after Monday's Russian missile attacks, President Volodymyr Zelensky has said. He said many regions were affected, and the local authorities warned that about half of the Kyiv region would remain without electricity in the coming days. Overnight, more missiles hit critical infrastructure and residential houses near the southern city of Zaporizhzhia, regional officials said. No casualties were reported. Four people were killed in Monday's attacks. Ukraine's energy minister said he hoped to significantly reduce the power deficit caused by the latest strikes by Tuesday evening, bringing nuclear power stations back onto the grid. The country is now seeing snow and sub-zero temperatures in many regions, and millions are without electricity and running water. There are fears that a number of people may die of hypothermia. Attackers Hacked Mexican Woman and steal unborn baby

 Pregnant Mexican woman died after she was cut open by two assailants who stole her unborn baby, authorities said Monday. The alleged perpetrators were arrested with a newborn in their possession, the Attorney General’s office in the eastern state of Veracruz said in a statement. The suspects, a man and a woman, appeared before a judge on Monday accused of kidnapping and femicide. They allegedly sliced open the victim to extract the fetus because the woman attacker was unable to have children herself, an official linked to the investigation told AFP on condition of anonymity.

Bomb Explosion; Three people dead in Thailand

 Thailand bomb explosion Three people died and four others were wounded after a bomb exploded on a roadside in Thailand’s troubled deep south, police said Tuesday. The seven state railway employees were on their way to fix a section of track in Songkhla Province, near the Malaysian border, which had been damaged in another bomb attack on Saturday. The latest bomb was hidden around 200 metres from the site of the earlier explosion. “We believe the bomb had been there since Saturday,” said police colonel Chartchai Chanasit, adding that no other explosive devices had been found.

Rights groups had protested against the amendments, denouncing a crackdown on civil liberties and political freedoms, as well as a shift towards fundamentalism in Muslim-majority Indonesia, where secularism is enshrined in the constitution.
