Elon Musk briefly lost world richest man position in 30mins

Elon Musk on Wednesday briefly lost his position as the richest person in the world to Chief Executive Officer of LVMH, Bernard Arnault, whose family owns luxury brand Louis Vuitton. According to Forbes, at 3:30 pm ET on Wednesday Arnault overtook Musk to become the world’s richest person with an estimated $184.7 billion but when US markets closed at 4pm ET Musk was back on top with $185.4 billion On September 27, 2021, Musk overtook Amazon’s Jeff Bezos to become the world’s richest person for the first time. Bezos has since dropped to fourth place with $111.3 billion while Indian businessman Gautam Adani sits in third place with $134.8 billion. Musk’s major source of wealth is Tesla whose shares peaked at $320 billion in November 2021, after car rental giant Hertz announced a large order from the electric vehicle maker. But in 2022, Tesla shares are down by nearly 50 per cent. Also in October 2022, the billionaire acquired social media platform Twitter, for $44 billion.

27yrs old Woman Jailed For Human Trafficking in Osun

Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State has sentenced a woman, Ifeoma Sunday, to four months imprisonment for human trafficking.   The National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffickingin Persons (NAPTIP) disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. The agency said the 27-year-old woman Jumakai, Ewele, Ayepe, Osogbo, was convicted by Justice N. Ayo Emmanuel, on Friday, December 2, 2022.    The offence contravenes the various provisions of the Trafficking in Persons Prohibition Law Enforcement and Administration Act 2015.    "The convict - a 27 year old Female of Jumakai, Ewele, Ayepe, Osogbo was sentenced to 4 months imprisonment and asked to pay compensation to her victims, the sum of N300,000 i.e 150,000 naira each for an attempt to recruit two females to Osogbo, Osun state for exploitative prostitution." the statement read.

Forgery:Court Convict Ex-minister Ogah, orders arrest

An Abia State Magistrate Court sitting in Umuahia on Thursday convicted the immediate past Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah, for forgery, and ordered his arrest and and committal to prison at any nearest Correctional Center in the state. In a suit No. UMSC/362/2022, the All Progressives Congress had brought a criminal complaint against Dr. Ogah that he did not participate in the governorship primary election of the party held on May 26, 2022 but went ahead and forged the party’s direct primary election result sheet “with intent that it may be acted on as genuine”. According to the complainant, the forgery perpetrated by Ogah was prejudicial to the party and its authentic governorship flag bearer in Abia State, High Chief Ikechi Emenike, “thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 465 of the Criminal Code (as applicable in Abia) and punishable under Section 467.” Delivering her judgment, the Presiding Magistrate Ngozi N. Resistance: Suspend limits on Cash Withdrawal, Reps tell CBN

The House of Representatives on Thursday, asked the Central Bank of Nigeria to suspend its latest policy which, among others, sets limits to cash withdrawals at deposit money banks and other financial institutions. Consequently, the House summoned the Governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele, to come and explain the policy to the parliament. He is to appear before the lawmakers on Thursday. This is based on a motion of urgent public importance moved by a member of the House, Aliyu Magaji, at the plenary on Thursday.Several lawmakers warned that the policy would have serious consequences and adverse effects on businesses and Nigerians who have no access to the banking system. The Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu, however, said the policy would check crimes as funds would now be tracked through the banking system. He said though the timing might be wrong, the country would benefit more from it.

Brittney Griner: Russia frees US basketball star in swap with arms dealer Bout

The US and Russia have exchanged jailed US basketball star Brittney Griner for notorious arms dealer Viktor Bout, held in an American prison for 12 years. President Joe Biden said Griner was safe and on a plane home from the United Arab Emirates. "I'm glad to say Brittney's in good spirits... she needs time and space to recover," he said at the White House. Griner was arrested at a Moscow airport in February for possessing cannabis oil and last month sent to a penal colony. The Biden administration proposed a prisoner exchange last July, aware Moscow had long sought Bout's release. Russia's foreign ministry confirmed the swap and said it had taken place at Abu Dhabi airport. "The Russian citizen has been returned to his homeland," it said in a statement, although he was not yet thought to have arrived on Russian soil. Tention: Gunmen Attack Anambra hospital, Steal Four new borns

Some unidentified gunmen have allegedly attacked a maternity hospital in Nkpologwu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, taking away four newborn babies. The motive for the attack has not yet being ascertained, but a source in the area confirmed the incident to journalists on Wednesday. Although, details of the incident are still sketchy, the source in the community disclosed that the incident happened late on Tuesday but was made known to members of the community on Wednesday. The source said, “It happened in our community on Tuesday night and people have been discussing it since Wednesday morning. They said some gunmen stormed the hospital (name withheld) and took away four babies from the hospital.
